Rachel Grant
MTI
With a deep interest in mind body connection after decades exploring physical movement and wellbeing through dance in a semi-professional capacity, practicing yoga since 2001, as well as working with pilates and physio exercises, I came to focus on massage.

I work with my clients to develop personalised effective treatment plans.

I have trained in holistic massage, remedial and sports massage, and am in ongoing training with World cup physio Dave O'Sullivan at ProSport Academy. My treatments can therefore incorprate relaxation, relief from injury and pain, and improve limited range of movement. Deep massage practice is not about pain but rather about having an acute understanding of the body and its interactions in order to work delicately and precisely to achieve the most beneficial outcome.
I offer each modality of massage or a combination of the three according to what you want. We discuss your symptoms, needs, and your goals. If you wish for self care ideas then I work with you to develop an appropriate programme which is motivating and achievable.
I use simple techniques to diagnose which muscles need attention, then work to rebalance muscle activation. We can then retest. One thing I love about it is that I, and you the client, get to clearly experience whether the treatment has been effective. If not we re-think to arrive at a beneficial treatment plan. The simple testing techniques and overall improvement allow you to chart your progress.
Massage can address both physical and emotional health, and the interaction between the two. I am fascinated by the interplay between the physical and emotional body, the strong replication of the mindset in the body. I encourage self-awareness, partly through the exploration of day to day subtle physical adjustments and their affects.
I have a continuing and ever changing personal practice exploring my own emotional and physical health through physical and talking practices. I am a mum, and my experience has shown me that my own physical and emotional wellbeing has a profound affect on the happiness of my family, our family dynamics, and the quality of our relationships.
My massage practice is focussed on physical restoration, alongisde which discussion and techniques for emotional exploration play a key role. A client who was unable to sit for more than half an hour without pain, to sitting for three hours within 2 weeks. I have a client who couldn't walk around her house without pain, and 9 weeks later went for a 2 week walking holiday. I hear how individuals grow in confidence, strength and self awareness. I love it. It is incredible what the body and mind can achieve.
